The latest and a request

We are in the middle of a big, ugly mess! Lucky for you, its WAY too long and WAY too complicated to type out. There are tons of people working on this, but unfortunately sometimes the wheels of progress are slow. We're hoping to have some things settled by the end of next week.
We can see Bosten as much or as little as we want, he just can't spend the night here. So, we're seeing him tomorrow and introducing him to Kaden. He is in an LDSFS emergency foster home while this gets sorted out.
We have faith that this will all work out, and that Heavenly Father is in all the details. Its just REALLY, REALLY hard.
We are planning to have a fast on Sunday and would love to have you join us. Please include in your prayers that this can be taken care of in a timely manner, that we (our birthmom and us) can feel peace in our hearts, that those involved will have hearts softened, and that Bosten will be loved and taken care of until we can permanently bring him home.
We love you all and are grateful for your support and prayers. We will continue to keep you posted.

Curious George and the man with the yellow hat

I'm sure it won't come as a big shock to anyone that Kaden wanted to be Curious George for Halloween. I got the brillant idea of having Kyle dress up too, and since he's such a good sport, he was willing. I found white clothes that I dyed yellow and a straw hat that I spray painted (all from DI) and it turned out great! Tonight is Ryan's trunk or treat, so the boys just left for some fun. Kaden even wanted us to call him George all night!

They say its just a wrinkle, but....

We were about an hour away from meeting at the LDSFS office to bring the baby home, when we got a call that they needed to see us ASAP. We knew something was up. Turns out the birth father has decided to cause trouble (there is other legal action going on and they say this is in retaliation). So, long story short they've got to track him down through the church's attorneys and get him to sign the relinquishment of his parental rights. They're not sure how long it will take. We can't proceed until this happens.
Kyle seems to be handling it ok, I'm a total wreck. Thank you in advance for your prayers. Please respect that at this time we don't want any visitors. Its hard enough to think about it let alone talk about it. We promise that we will keep you posted.
Kyle says it wouldn't be an adoption for us without drama and stress down to the last minute...I was thinking that it was nice for a change to have everything go well...that's what I get for thinking!

Meet Bosten

As you may or may not already know, Bosten Kyle was born last night around 7pm. He weighed 6 lbs., 13 oz. and was 22 inches long. He and B. are both doing great. We are planning to bring him home tomorrow afternoon.

We went to the hospital this afternoon to meet him. He had just been circumcised, and was feeling a little grumpy! (who wouldn't after that...poor little guy!). I fed him a bottle and he went right to sleep. Here's some pictures of our little miracle.

I'm sure there will be a million more pictures coming, so check back often! :)

Our silly faced pumpkin

Last night we carved pumpkins with Ryan (and family) and the Changs. Kaden and Kyle decided that they were going to make a silly face this year. Kyle let Kaden design the silly face, and Kaden was pretty thrilled at how it turned out!

Pumpkins, pumpkins!

Thursday night we went to the city's pumpkin walk.

There were a millon to look at! Ok, not a million but lots and lots. Here are some of our favorites.

Kaden:

Minnie Mouse

Luigi from the Cars movie

You can't see it, but he's standing in front of a pirates pumpkin! We told him to stand by it so that we could take his picture, and he stood right in front of it!

Me:

Go Cougars!

The book cover from Breaking Dawn

Kyle:

This was his favorite because it was at the END. Kaden didn't get a nap, and was really start to have a meltdown towards the end! We went home right after this and he fell asleep as soon as his head hit the pillow!

Man alive, look who's 35!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY KYLE!
Kaden has been so excited for Daddy's birthday! He helped me buy and wrap gifts, and insisted on taking Daddy minature golfing today for a "fun birthday" (Kyle's off today). Later we're headed to Red Robin for dinner with 2 of his brothers and families, and then to the pumpkin walk that starts tonight. We love you Kyle and hope you have a great day!

Yo ho, yo ho....a pirate just for me!

Kaden has been DYING to carve pumpkins. I think he would have done it 2 weeks ago if we'd let him. We finally went and got some pumpkins yesterday and then I remembered that Grandma had given us this kit last year to make a pirate. Wahoo!

Getting all the pieces ready

Hard at work

Showing me the pirate's sword

Aarrrgh!

As you can see, Kaden was thrilled. Thanks Grandma!!

OUCH!

What happened last night?!?! I was out to dinner with our birth mom and then to game night, so didn't see the game. This is not good for our chances at a BCS game...in fact, it may have ended our chances. Ugh. Go Cougars!

Road trip to Disneyland!

We had a great time on our trip to Disneyland! We drove down on Wednesday with my parents and two sisters (and their families!). The weather was great, and the lines were a little bit longer than we'd hoped for...it was some sort of break for schools in Arizona and California.
Since Kaden was taller than 40 inches, we got to do a few new rides:
Space Mountain (too scary)
Soarin' Over California (a little scary)
Thunder Mountain (a little scary)
Splash Mountain (SO, SO FUN!)
Kaden was all about Pirates of the Carribean...well, that is until we took him on Splash Mountain. He LOVED it. We must have gone on it at least 10 times! He was so funny because he'd put his hands up over his head and scream at the top of his lungs the entire way down!
Friday night we went out to eat at Bubba Gump's Shrimp Co. (YUM!). Kyle had to crack his lobster pinchers with a "cracker" as Kaden called it. Kaden wanted a turn too, and used the "cracker" on his chicken strips. We didn't think much about it and went back to Disneyland. When we got back to the hotel we noticed that he'd broken out in HIVES. Poor kid! This happened once before when he ate off the same fork that I'd eaten shrimp on. All I can say is its a good thing that he didn't actually EAT the shellfish! We'd be in trouble.
It was really fun to play in Disneyland, we went to 2 parades, ate lots of junk, swam in the pool at the hotel, had fun with Mimi and Papa and Lindz, Cory, Kace, Dave and the cousins. Kaden is already talking about when we can go back....we told him to start saving his money!

Disneyland!

FINALLY a game night!

I know, I know...its about time! We're going to have a game night for Girls Night Out. Mark your calendars for Thursday, October 16th, 7pm. We're still working out the specifics as to WHERE, so we'll have to let you know that detail.

Please invite anyone and everyone to come! If you can or want to bring a treat or snack to share, please do!

If you have a favorite board game, bring it!

This is going to be really fun! As usual, drop Carrie or I a comment so that we get a rough idea of who's coming.

Blog Blitz...well, my take on it

There are a couple of scrapbooking blogs that I read pretty regularly. I saw an idea this week that I thought would be kind of fun. They challenged their readers to pick 10 recent pictures that they've taken that represent their lives at this minute, and to post them on their blogs (with explanations). They included some other stuff that I probably won't do...like make a mini book of those 10 pictures, carry it around with you for a year, etc. While I'm not planning to do that stuff, I thought it would be fun to post my 10 pictures...so here goes in random order.

OK, my first one would definately be a picture of our birth mom, Kyle and I. Out of respect for our birth mom, I won't post the picture. But, its definately one of my 10.

My dad and I at the Beavers vs. Utah game this week...so FUN to be at a college footbal game and so GREAT to have my parents in Utah now to do stuff like this.

Our little soccer stars. We've been going to Riverton twice a week for soccer season. Kaden has LOVED it, and its been fun for him to play with Riley.

We love being closer to Kyle's family (now that we're in Utah) and getting to do fun stuff with them...like the pumpkin patch.

As you know, Curious George is HUGE around here...Kaden still wants to name the new baby George. He's such a good helper to his mom (like here getting the baby stuff ready) and can't wait to be a big brother...even though he doesn't know exactly what that means.

I LOVE this picture of the boys...Kaden LOVES being with Daddy, and Daddy is so great about playing and doing silly stuff.

Its so different (and great) that our neighbors and friends are all people we go to church with. Kaden loved being in the neighborhood parade with all the kids from Primary.

It so much closer now to go see Grandma and Grandpa in Colorado! This was Kaden swimming at the rec. center when we went to visit. Kaden actually loved it, even though you can't really tell! :)

We are so THRILLED and so THANKFUL to be waiting for a new baby.

It was so nice to be able to see Grandpa Fred (and Grandma Patty) lately. We love them alot and miss not seeing them more often.

OK, this was harder than I thought it would be. Most of my 10 pictures have already appeared on my blog lately, but this is a good representation of our life right this minute. Hope you enjoyed...I'm waiting to see yours! :)

I don't get it

Maybe someone can explain this to me: why do people in Utah have such a hard time driving in the rain? Is it that they don't see it enough and its scary? Why do people slow down to like 40mph on the freeway when it rains? It makes me CRAZY! Its just water. Now, if it was FROZEN water then I would agree that its scary. But, plain old rain?! Maybe its just me and maybe its that I've driven more in rain than not (ok that's exaggerating, but you get the idea). Someone help me out....PLEASE....and explain it to me.

Kaden's crackup

OK, I'm totally stealing this from another blog that I read...she posts funny things that her kids say. Well, just now Kaden says to me, "Mom, when are we going to Disneyland again?....like in 20 years or something?" It was so funny! Actually, we're going next week but to him I guess it really seems like 20 years...or something.
