Families are forever

We finally were able to "get married to Bosten" (as Kaden says) today at the Bountiful temple. Honestly, this is what makes all the hard parts of adoption worth it.

I think this picture is hillarious. Bosten was SO tired and SO hungry and was not interested in taking pictures at all. Poor baby. He was pretty miserable.
We're so grateful for those who were there with us!

Legal. official. final.

Today was the day we've been waiting for...for almost 12 long months. I can honestly say, that there were some days where I didn't think we'd make it. There were days that I couldn't eat because I might throw up. Days that I cried all day long. Hard days. STRESSFUL days.

But today, none of that mattered. It didn't matter that we went to the wrong courthouse and realized our mistake 10 minutes before we were supposed to begin. It didn't matter that our case worker hadn't ever been in front of this judge before. It didn't matter that Bosten spit up all over his shirt minutes before the judge walked in.

We'd made it.

I couldn't help but have tears rolling down my face as the judge said:

"The birth father's rights are terminated."

I thought the judge was funny. My mom thought he was a little grumpy. After we were sworn in he asked us if we were sure that we wanted to spell Bosten's name with an "en" instead of "on". Yep, we're sure. He told us that we'd have to correct people on the spelling his whole life. That's ok...we didn't want it like the city (we didn't name him after the city or the Red Sox...even though we do like them). Then he said, "parental torture....that's what it is."

Maybe that's grumpy or him not minding his own business. I thought it was funny and laughed out loud. I don't care what he thinks about how we spelled his name as long as he signed the adoption decree.

He did.

Its legal.

official.

final.

I have to say (again) how thankful we are to his birth mom and the sacrifice she made so that we could have him. We are so grateful. We love this little boy and can't imagine what our family would be like without him. He is the sweetest little boy and I can't help but give him extra hugs and kisses today.

See that smile on my face? Huge relief!

The judge wanted to hold him for a picture...Bosten was not interested at all and started immediately crying and reaching for his mom.

He let Kaden bang his gavel and Kaden thought it was pretty cool.

Our little pumpkins at the patch

We took the boys to the pumpkin patch. Kaden thought it was pretty fun to sit on all of the tractors and drive. Actually, Bosten thought it was pretty good too.

There were probably 10 tractors there, and by the time we were done we'd sat on them all.

Next we went through the kids' corn maze...not too scary at all (and we didn't even need Uncle Ryan with his map for this one!)

The boys got to ride in the wheelbarrow out to find just the right pumpkins.

Kaden thought they were all great and started hauling as many as he could to put in our pile.

After looking at lots and lots of pumpkins, I think we already had the best ones:

This week....

Kyle brought home the new Toy Story Mania game for the Wii. We've been having a great time with it and it almost feels like we're in Disneyland...almost.

Bosten has 2 new teeth! He's been really happy all week, and I didn't even know they'd come in. Cute little monkey.

We flipped his carseat around this week. You should have heard him on the way to the pumpkin patch! He was laughing and screetching and jabbering the whole way. He loves being a big boy and likes being just like Kaden.

Long overdue

I've been waiting a really long time to announce
WE HAVE A COURT DATE TO FINALIZE
BOSTEN'S ADOPTION!!
Hallelujah.
Its been a long, hard road and we're so excited and thankful and relieved that we've made it. We're scheduled for next Tuesday morning.
We're not sure what to expect...we didn't have to do it for Kaden's adoption (the judge just signed the paperwork), but we are anxious to go and have him official.

Rise and shout

Last night we took Kaden to his first college football game. He's been so excited and for a couple of weeks has been saying, "Is today the day?". Well, it finally happened and he LOVED it.
First, we went and had dinner at Brick Oven in Provo.

After a trip to the bookstore, the boys were sporting new (matching) hats and Kaden got a new sweatshirt.

We had to see the big cougar in front of the stadium!

Waiting for the band to come.

Here comes the band!

Kaden can sing the Cougar fight song and always does it at the top of his lungs!

It was a fun surprise to find out that Uncle Devon was at the game too...except he had an Aggies shirt on.

Waiting for Dad to bring us some popcorn!
We had a great time and it was fun watching Kaden yell.....
Gooooo Cougars!
