Bosten's first haircut

Aunt Kacey gave Bosten his first haircut today. You can't really tell in the before pictures, but he had some crazy (and long!) hair. He sat really still the whole time and didn't seem to mind one bit.

2 peas in a pod

Kaden LOVES going to Mimi and Papa's house to play with his cousins. Brody usually goes home for a nap after lunch, but Kaden and Riley play their Leapsters on the couch. This is how I found them playing today:

Just in case you didn't notice the details:

Love it!

Yikes!

Today we went to Park City to go shopping at the outlets and to play. Kaden was in need of some new Crocs, and we told him he could get some new ones. I really tried to talk him into brown or navy or black. Nope. This is what he chose:

I think I've created a monster! Yes, we love orange around here. But orange crocs? Hmmm....he LOVES them because they're "Go Beavers, Mom" and also because Papa has some just like them. Whatever makes him happy....

We love grandpa fred and grandma patty

My grandparents were in town this week. We were so excited to hear they were coming! Kaden LOVES them and Bosten got to meet them. We're sad they live so far away (at the Oregon Coast), but are glad we have somewhere fun to go visit. We love you and hope you come visit again soon!

4 generations...Grandpa Fred, Kaden, Mimi, Me, Bosten

Grandpa Fred, Grandma Patty and the boys

Bring on summer!

We finally had our first 90 degree day this week! We were down at Mimi and Papa's house and had a really fun time with the pool and popsicles. Both boys LOVED it.

Every buddy needs a brother

We were getting the boys ready for bed last night when Bosten thought Kaden was SO FUNNY when he took a drink. When we made the video, this had already been going on for several minutes and it was that funny the whole time. Its so fun to watch them together and we are so glad that they love each other!

Birth Mother's/Mother's Day

I used to dread Mother's Day. While I was happy to celebrate and honor my mom (the BEST mom in the world),
me and my mom

it was an in your face reminder of all that I desperately wanted to have and didn't. It was really, really hard.

Did you know that there is a "Birth Mother's Day"? I didn't until we came to Utah. In the 90's some adoptive moms in Seattle started it. I'm glad they did, and I'm so glad that I now know about it. Somehow it seems fitting that we recognize these angels before we celebrate Mother's Day.

These are our angels:

I (we) owe these amazing women the world. My heart overflows with gratitude whenever I think about them (which is all the time!) I truly do not know where or what I would be like without them. I pray for their happiness every single day. It never seems like enough to say thanks, but I don't know what else to say besides, "Thank you!"

My journey to motherhood has not been easy and certainly streaked with many tears, but I wouldn't change a thing because I have this:

And it doesn't get any better than this.

Little macgyver

Kaden's mind and imagination never cease to amaze me. Here's a couple of examples of stuff that's happened in the last week or so....

One day I was in rocking Bosten, when I heard a BLOOD CURLING scream. I jumped up to go find Kaden and I couldn't find him. He's screaming, and I'm yelling trying to figure out where in the world he is. This is where I found him:

Wedged behind our bed (between the bed and the window). WHY did he go back there? I have no idea. He saw something and thought he'd try and get it. He was pretty freaked out that he got stuck. We both were crying, but I got him out. He promised he wouldn't try it again.

The rule for rest time around here is that if he's not going to sleep, he has to stay in his room for an hour. He can play his Leapster, read books, or play as long as he STAYS IN HIS ROOM. One day I heard little footsteps trying to be quiet, but definitely out of his room. I came upstairs to investigate and I found him with this:

One of his books had gotten underneath his bed and he couldn't reach it. He grabbed on of his plastic putters, smeared glue all over it, and was going to try and get his book out by having it stick to the putter. A pretty smart idea for a 4 year old. In fact, brilliant. However, he was still busted since he was in the glue AND out of his room.

After a really long day, I was at the end of my rope and sent Kaden to his room. I went in a couple minutes later to tell him he could get up. Instead, I ended up taking his picture.

I don't know if you can tell, but his Leapster is on AND he's got his little wand on the game. SO FUNNY. I wasn't so mad anymore (I can't even remember why I sent him to his room in the first place!). I love this kid.

Check ups

Today we took the boys for their check ups. Here's the latest stats:

Height: 42.5 inches (80th percentile)

Weight: 36 lbs. (40th percentile)

Height: 27 inches (65th percentile)

Weight: 17 lbs. (50th percentile)

Head Circumference: 17.75 (80th percentile)

In addition to immunizations, we found out Bosten has ANOTHER ear infection. AGAIN. Poor kid. No wonder he's been a little grumpy!
