swimming and celebrating galore

There are three February birthdays on my side of the family, so we decided it would be fun to go swimming to celebrate.

Here's the group.  We were missing the twins (obviously) and one more.

They had a great time, and it was even more great that a couple of the Dads swam too.

We went back to my parents house for pizza and cake/ice cream afterwards.

This year the request was chocolate cake and chocolate frosting (homemade) and minecraft cupcakes.

He is really into Minecraft, and was thrilled to open this from Mom and Dad:

I'm not kidding when I say he's worn this almost every day.  Uncle Ryan made him a minecraft shirt too, so between both of them he's worn one or the other every day.  Funny kid.

hanging out

I'm not officially taking a picture a day this year, but I guess looking at what's on my phone lately is kind of the same thing.

Bosten has been on an apple kick lately.  He doesn't want it cut up though, he wants it big so he can eat it with two fingers.

We've been having a lot of movie/popcorn/snuggle nights.

I switched days to volunteer at school.  Now Bosten and I go on Thursday mornings.

We had "baby oranges" for lunch one day.

Kade lost another tooth.  Pretty exciting!

Kaden is obsessed with Minecraft these days, and really wants a Minecraft birthday party.  They don't have any birthday supplies, so I made my own.

Bosten and I made treats for Valentines Day.

Bosten informed me he was full "up to here" so he couldn't eat any more dinner.

We went to the temple to take pictures of this cute little boy for his baptism announcement/invitation.
We haven't decided which one to use yet, so you get to see the goofy one for now.

eight is great

 Happy Birthday, Kaden!

Its crazy to think that 8 years ago today you were this little.

It seems like yesterday that we got "THE call" and rushed to Utah to meet you.

Here's 8 things you may or may not know about our favorite birthday boy:

-His nickname is Shuggie/Shuggs
-He has a very tender heart
-He loves babies
-His favorite foods are salmon, broccoli and ribs
-He is crazy about Minecraft
-He hates jeans, as in won't wear them
-He knows more about my iphone than I do
-He's excited to get baptized in a couple of weeks

We've been celebrating his birthday all weekend.
We are so grateful that he's in our family.
Happy Birthday, Shuggie!
We love you!

minute to win it...valentine style

On Valentines Day we decided to play some Minute to Win It games after dinner.

First, stacking conversation hearts as high as we could:

Next, we tried to throw heart shaped marshmallows into the red cups.

We also stacked them on our foreheads just for fun.

Last, we put cookies on our foreheads and tried to get them down to our mouths.

It was fun to be together and be silly.

call me mcgyver

Kaden wanted "something cool" for his Valentines party mailbox.  I checked out Pinterest, but didn't find anything that I loved.  So, we talked and I had a great idea.

I had all of the supplies, well except for the duct tape.

I cut circles out of textured black paper.

Attached them to some brown cardstock.

Wrapped a giant pencil with cardstock, attached it to a small box, and attached the whole thing to a shoe box.

Bought this sweet duct tape, and wrapped the whole project with it.

Added his name with brown letters, attached the brown cardstock and we were ready to roll.

Pretty sweet.  He was thrilled, which was the whole point.

Happy Valentines Day!

not much happening...

Freddie and Patty went home.  We loved having them here!  I think they were freezing in all of the snow/ice we had.

Cool little dude.

This is what happens when Bos wakes up for the day before 5am.  He totally crashed sitting up in the chair with his drink about 4pm.

We had more snow. More in the forecast for the weekend.

My little helper at the store.

We found a major score at D.I.  The boys LOVE playing with one of these at Grandma's house, and now we have one for our house.  Kyle and I both remember having these as kids.

We are working on writing numbers and letters.

New hat.  He might be the cutest little Perry I've ever seen.

Otherwise, its been pretty normal around here:  school, homework, OT appointments, Daddy's on call nights, playing, going to Mimi's house on Friday afternoon, etc.
