the beach

We wanted to get to the beach this year on our trip to California.  It wasn't right next door to Disneyland, but it was pretty dang close (and so much closer than being in Utah!).  We hauled buckets, shovels, cars, and Army guys to play in the sand.  We ended up in Huntington Beach.

Can you see the sand in his scalp, down his shirt, and in his hair?

The seagulls were freaking crazy.  Seriously.  We got there and they started swarming our stuff.  Kyle and I took turns...one of us watching the boys, and the other one chasing seagulls.  Finally, we decided to just eat lunch, so that they'd leave us alone...but not before they dug under our towels, got into the bag, and made off with one of the boys' lunchables.

After lunch, we headed down to the water to play until it was time to go.

The water was cold, but they didn't care.  I wish I would have taken a video of the squeals of laughter and giggles we heard as they played and splashed.  Such a fun day, and I'm so glad we went.
Wish it wasn't so far to go back...
