Family canning

Yesterday we had our first family canning day! We decided months ago that it would be a good investment to have a dry pack canner. We all chipped in, and it has finally arrived! My dad went and got a load of #10 cans and we've all been accumulating stuff to can. Our goal is to have family canning day once a month. As you can see, EVERYONE really helped and participated:
We broke the spaghetti noodles and then let the kids put them into the cans.

My sisters making labels for the cans (dorks!)
Papa and Dave sealing the cans.

Mimi with Bosten and Bailey.

Notice how I'm not in any of the pictures?! I swear I was there and helped...I'm just the one usually with the camera! :)

Here's what we accomplished:

spaghetti noodles

rice.

pinto beans.

Oh, I'm so jealous. That's so great that your whole family is doing it together. It makes it not seem so difficult. You're post will hopefully spur me on to doing my own canning.
