happy birthday, mimi

We celebrated my mom's 60th birthday all weekend.

First up, dinner at The Roof in downtown SLC.
(Yes, an actual date for Kyle and I.)

My grandparents and aunt came from Oregon for the weekend so the group was my parents, my grandparents, my aunt, and all my siblings/spouses.

Sunday afternoon, we had a BBQ at Papa and Mimi's house.

The menu was BBQ chicken and ribs, twice baked potatoes, fruit and pasta salads, and chips.
(Chocolate cake and root beer floats for treats).

There was a serious soccer and kick ball game.

Happy Birthday, Mimi!

field trip

Kaden and Kyle went on a field trip last week to the Ogden Nature Reserve and the dinosaur park.  Kaden thought it was pretty great having Dad along (although Kyle said riding the bus was enough to make a sane person crazy!)

Nature Reserve:

Then, they got to go eat lunch, play at a park, and go see the dinosaurs.  Kaden thought it was fun because they got to search for stuff and write things down.

They had a fun day and he crashed on the bus ride home.

stuff you're dying to know

In the process of digging out a bush in one of the front beds, Kyle accidently hit one of the sprinkler pipes (that he didn't even know was there).  We couldn't find the shut off valve for awhile, so the back yard got a little soggy.

Papa came over and pressure washed the house.  What a huge difference!  The  rivers of black water that came off were disgusting.

Kyle stopped at a chocolate shop downtown and brought me these.  They are to die for.

Bosten was helping me load the dishwasher and thought it would be a good idea to lick the knife that had peanut butter on it (knowing full well that he's allergic to peanuts).  Little stinker.  He was miserable the rest of the day.

We got Kaden's room painted.

Our little saver had his auction at school.  He's been saving his money all term, and it paid off....he got the 2 things he'd really had his eye on.

cheerleading

Last week we decided to go watch Bailey and Riley (cousins) play in their soccer games.

It was a beautiful day, and it was a lot of fun to go hang out with some of our favorite people.

lucky, lucky me

Mother's Day was pretty low key this year.  I like low key.
Mother's Day is always a little tricky for me.

We went to church and then down to my parents for a BBQ.  This is the last Mother's Day Mimi will be around for a couple of years, and I didn't take any pictures.  Lame.

Anyway, here's a couple of pictures with my favorite boys.

I am a lucky girl.

let the games begin

Softball season has arrived.  I'm not sure who's more excited about it.

Bosten watching warm ups.

Kaden and Dad playing catch before the game.

Kaden in the dugout.  He helped hand out jerseys and schedules and ate sunflower seeds during the game.

They won their first game!

on my phone

Here's what's been randomly happening around here lately.

I'm in the middle of refinishing another dresser.

We have been BBQing a ton since this first night of burgers.

Still painting.  Bosten's room is done and we've moved on to Kaden's room.

We've been playing a lot of baseball in the front yard in the evenings.

Painted the front door.

We've been working on Bosten writing his name.
