fun times 2

Bosten and I got to babysit the twins the other day.  He was so excited when he heard they were coming!

He was a good helper.

Kaden was so sad to miss out on all of the fun.  The girls took a rest on his bed, though, and that made him feel a little better.

It was fun to get some baby snuggles in.

together forever

You already know that my grandparents are in town this week.  They weren't so excited about the freezing rain we had, but were pretty excited to go to the temple for the first time on Friday.

I'm not totally sure why they picked the Bountiful temple, but it worked out really well for us.
I went to the session and sealing, and Kyle came up for the sealing.
(Thanks again to my neighbor who came and hung out with our sleeping boys so that we could both be there).

3 generations of my family:
My grandparents, parents, and siblings

The group:
The mom of the missionary who baptized Grandma Patty, Kacey (sister), Mom, Lindsey (sister), my grandparents, Logan (brother) Dad, Kyle and I, the Nichols (family friends), a friend from their Oregon branch, and a couple from Grant's new ward.

this and that

This was the temperature last week on my phone.  This Oregon girl is freezing.

Kaden reading a book to Daddy.

We had a campout/picnic on the family room floor.

I decided to make my own dishwasher detergent.  I got the recipe from a friend on Facebook, but I'm pretty sure she got it from Pinterest.

Dishwasher Detergent:
1 c. Borax
1 c. Super Washing Soap
1/4 c. Baking Soda
1/8 c. Citric Acid OR 2 lemonade Kool-Aid packets (obviously don't add the sugar)
1/4 c. salt

Mix well.  Store in air tight container.  You only need about a Tablespoon per load.

My grandparents are in town (Yay!).  My grandpa got to baptize Grant on Saturday.  It was fun to be a part of it.  My grandparents are going to the temple for the first time on Friday.  Good stuff.

We talked Kaden into going to Red Robin the other night.  YAY!  We love it, but its too noisy and smelly (in general) for him so we hardly ever go.  We went early enough this time that there weren't very many people there, so it worked out.  It was fantastic.

digging out

We've had a ton of snow since Thursday night.  We knew it was supposed to snow, but seriously, holy crap.  This is the most we've had since living in Utah (5 years).

They even cancelled school on Friday, which has only happened one other time in the last 13 years.  The boys were thrilled and had a great time playing.

Kyle decided to head into work a little early since they had so much to do.

He had no trouble getting out of the garage, but got stuck trying to get onto the street.  We had to dig him out.  Awesome.

I spent an hour and a half shoveling the driveway and was hardly making a dent.  One of our nice neighbors took pity on me and helped with their snow blower.

We were thinking that the fun was about done, but we woke up to even more today.

The garbage can on the left was clear when we went to bed last night, so that's the new stuff.

Kyle was home today, so he got to help shovel!

We went sledding again, too, which was really fun.

I think I'd rather be in Hawaii...

this past week...instagram style

Kaden lost a finally lost a tooth!  He's been dying to have one come out so that the Tooth Fairy could pay a visit.  He was really late in getting teeth as a baby, so I wasn't at all surprised that he was late losing one.

We've been doing a lot of snuggling.

We celebrated on New Years Eve by bringing Chilis home for dinner, having ice cream, and watching college football games.  Can't get much better than that.

Spider man showed up to fight all of the bad guys that were lurking in the shadows.

On Kyle's day off this week, he and his sidekick hung out all day.

It has been cold here.  SO cold.  I just looked at the temperature on my phone as I'm writing this at 8pm and its 12 degrees.  Going to be another cold night.

And there you have it for the week.

christmas fun

Christmas Eve we went down to my parents.  We watched a DVD about the birth of the Savior, had our traditional Christmas Eve dinner (rolls, meats and cheese, baked beans, dips/chips, grandma's cheese ball, great grandma's orange cake, pies, etc.), opened gifts and predicted where my parents might serve their mission.  They are in the process of filling out paperwork, and expect to be gone by the first of June.

For the record, here's our guesses:

Kyle:  Vancouver, Canada
Shelby:  Alberta, Canada
Kaden:  Las Vegas, Nevada
Bosten:  Disneyland

This is kind of blurry, but you can see how thrilled he is with the new blanket Mimi made him.

Bosten scored some good stuff too.

Then it was home (through the snow) to get Christmas jammies on and get off to bed.

Christmas morning was a lot of fun.  The boys were so appreciative and excited about what they got (and each other got).  We opened gifts and had breakfast (without Mimi and Papa), played with our toys, and then headed up to Ryan and Kerry's house to hang out with their family and Grandma.

I made both of the boys blankets.  Bosten saw me working on his, but I had told him that it was for Papa.

Kaden had no idea.

He was really excited about what Santa brought.

Bosten was too.

This is the only picture I took at Ryan and Kerry's house.
 Weird.
