lucky 13

Today Kyle and I are celebrating our 13th anniversary.

Our engagement picture:

I've said this before, but there's no big story.  We had taken a million "real" ones, and thought it would be fun to do something a little different.  Go figure it was the one that we ended up using.  Again, it wasn't one of our parent's headstones, we weren't honoring our heritage, or anything else crazy.  It was all for fun.

One of our favorite wedding pictures:

Happy Anniversary, Kyle!  Love you.

handcart days

Tonight we took the boys to Handcart Days.  We go every year, and this year it didn't seem as miserable hot as some of the other years.  Kyle and Kaden took our chairs down early, and we headed down to the parade about an hour early.

We started to get a little tired of all the waiting, but it was finally time to start.

We saw Army guys, which of course, was a big hit with the boys.

We listened to several marching bands.

Waited for candy.

Saw Ronald McDonald (so exciting!)

We saw some floats, too.

When we'd had enough (and probably about half way through the parade), we headed over to the park for a couple of rides and a cold treat.

We were done just in time to see all of the YM in the area dressed up as the Strippling Warriors from the Book of Mormon.   There were so many!  It was pretty cool.
(And might I add, only in Utah!)

We had a good time, and our family loves this yearly event.

oh.my.word.

I really should know better.  I really should know that when Bosten is silent, even when we're calling him, that it usually means trouble.
Big trouble.

Yesterday, when we finally found him this is what we saw:

He has a plastic bag in his hand, which he'd been using to fill with water.

He filled up this drawer with water.

He also soaked the carpet.  Soaked, as in completely squishy when you walked on it.

I used our carpet cleaner to soak up 2 full buckets of water...and it was still really wet.

Little punk.  He knew he was in big trouble, but he didn't seem to feel too bad about it.
Lesson learned.

float preview party

Lindsey and I took the kids to the Days of '47 Parade float preview party.  We went last year too, but this year was even better.

The Riverton High School band was there playing.  It was too loud for the boys, especially since it echoed.

Here we are in front of the University of Utah float.  Bayz didn't get the message that we weren't smiling for this one!

However, on the back of the float they were playing Plinko, which was fun.

We dug for gold at one float...

...and got to fight pirates at another.

We saw several really cool ones.

We had a great time!

cute brothers

Today when Kaden was getting ready to do his listening , Bosten informed me that he wanted to do it too.  Usually he's banished to the basement or his bedroom during listening, so that there are no distractions.
So, we got some headphones out for Bosten, and let him listen to a cd.

This cracks me up because the ear piece isn't even on his ear.

Kaden can do something with his hands during the approx. 15 minutes of daily listening.  Today, he chose to play with Legos.  It was super awesome.

What cute brothers.
