fun on the fourth

I decided to do parade fliers again this year, and ran and did them first thing.
This was last year's, but pretty much the same thing...except I attached our card to the front so that people would see our picture.

After I got back, we loaded up and headed down to the carnival to meet the kids.  What is the 4th of July without a good carnival?!

We ate lunch, and then headed to the movies.  Everyone else had the same idea!

We spent the rest of the afternoon in the pool.

We had a BBQ (hamburgers, hot dogs, watermelon, pineapple, chips, corn on the cob) and treats (brownies/ice cream and root beer floats) before heading home.

The boys had each picked out a couple of fireworks, so we did those when we got home.  We knew we'd never make it until dark, especially after being up so late the night before, so we just did them.  For some reason the boys watched from the back of the van.

It was a fun, full day.

neighborhood fireworks

Our neighborhood does a fireworks show every year.  Because of bedtimes and routines, we have never gone but thought we'd try it this year.

We started at 8pm and had treats, visited with neighbors, played some hoops, and did some sparklers.

It was loud for Kaden (especially the ones with whistles), so we stayed for a little while and then walked home.  Bosten and Kyle made it through the whole show.  Bosten told Kyle on the way home that he loves the smell of fireworks.  Weird kid.

july 3

We spent the afternoon in the pool with our cousins.

My parents and sisters family went to Red Robin to celebrate my sister's birthday.  They brought me back dinner.  I was in heaven, especially since we never get to go there any more.

Then, we got our new shirts on to get ready for the parade.

My sisters had staked out spots a week ago for the Riverton city parade, and it was a great spot.  It was fun to have friends from Motown visiting, and they came too.

After the parade, we headed back to Mimi and Papa's house for cake/ice cream for my sister's birthday.
Super great day.

this and that

My grandparents came back to town (after being being here a month ago).  It was fun to see them, and we were thrilled that they brought us a treat from Oregon.

It has been hot here.  100+ degrees, record breaking temperatures, several days in a row.
My new favorite drink?
A dirty Dr. Pepper or Diet Coke.

Have you tried it?
Dr. Pepper or Diet Coke with a squirt of coconut syrup and fresh squeezed lime juice.
Try it.
You're welcome.

Another way we've been keeping cool.

Aunt Debbie was in town for my parents farewell, and brought some of our favorite childhood treats from Canada.
The toffee isn't quite the same as the bricks used to be, but still pretty good.  If only she could have figured out how to bring fries and gravy too.

Grandma, Uncle Devon, and Michelle have been in town.  Kyle saw them way more than we did, but it was fun to have lunch at Zupas one day.

cherry hill

We decided to get Cherry Hill passes again this year.
The kids love it, its close, and it gives us something to do in the hot afternoons.  We go just about every day, and Kyle comes with us on his day off or when we go in the evenings.
Super fun.

Some of our cousins came up to go with us one afternoon.  We usually go all together at least once, and its always fun to have a picnic and swim.

Here's my February layouts for our 2013 family scrapbook.

In case you forgot, I'm using Project Life and I really like it.
